Dale and Melissa - Check out their new book on Amazon - Tassajara Dinners and Desserts!
It was such a treat to visit my friends Dale and Melissa. I have known them for a long time, Dale since 1995. After I talked their ear off, updating them on my travels since the summer, they treated me to their favorite margarita spot, where I heard about their latest adventures. Spending time with them was so nourishing to me, to be able to share my current joys with friends who have witnessed my ups and downs and who always support me. A blessing.
breakfast of champions
The next morning, Daisy showed me the trail up the mountainside and accompanied me over creeks, through snow and forest. The views were amazing - wish I'd had my camera. Afterwards, breakfast was served at Melissa's parents: freshly ground rice flour waffles, homemade applesauce, Dale's pork sausage, Michael's homegrown chili powder and Jan's fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. I wonder if they've thought about opening up a bed and breakfast!!
Me, Paula, Daisy and the wild roses
Dale and Melissa held space for me to sing the song I wrote for Paula last spring here in the place where her ashes were returned to the earth. Melissa read some poetry and an excerpt from a book where a dog talks to his owner who has cancer. Then I hung out and played some more songs in the wide open of a gorgeous day, feeling very, very connected to the beauty of life.
My traveling 'local' food stash: California apricots, almonds, dates, oranges and whole wheat fig bars.

After more stimulating conversation, it was back on the road, sent off with a hot cup of tea and lots of love!!
